Local gamer expert says: Gamers are actually less likely to notice objects that look excessively real when playing games, which can only provide a simulacrum of reality. It’s the reason gamers don’t look at their food if they eat while gaming.
On a side note, the ratio of female:male IN videogames may exceed that of the female:male ratio at any engineering school.

@kataklysmos: Sorry, but I’m a major gamer and those ‘problems’ have never happened to me. I still maintain a distinct separation between reality and fiction. Of course, I also watch a lot of anime, read a lot of books, read a lot of webcomics, watch some ‘live’ action shows, and even work on some stories and games of my own creation at times, so maybe that’s part of the reason I’ve never had those problems.
