I don’t think there’s quite enough information in there. Both EIT and C are unknowns, and it gets even worse if it was supposed to be “lim u->EIT.”
I can’t remember where this came from, but I do like this one:
lim u->i (patience()) = 0
Also, the FTP comic is great. I’m not sure what she’s trying to accomplish in panel 3, though. I hope it wasn’t based on a real-life experience. (By the way, if you haven’t read this week’s FTP yet, go vote for Enjuhneer on TopWebcomics.)
I personally get my tech support through Google (using a wired connection, by the way). I haven’t yet needed phone-based tech support, so I don’t really have any personal stories, either good or bad.
first one: ouch
second one: wait that’s not how math works…
third one: a word-for-word quote from a certain older cartoon? that I remember perfectly as well? (the in bed just falls flat)
#2 is an old RPI joke mangled into text. It makes a little more sense if you draw it out. (What word does “the integral of e to the x” look like?)
Yes, the FTP was based on a real-life situation. I was at home trying to fix my mom’s wireless, and nothing I tried worked. (It ended up being an issue on the ISP’s end.) Mom convinced me to call tech support, and after two and a half hours of him telling me to do the same (wrong) five steps over and over, he would “put me on hold” by setting the phone down and laughing audibly.
Penny is holding back her desire to smash the tech support dude’s face with a frying pan.
As for #3, I no longer feel old knowing that folks still remember that show!
You know, I probably should have gotten #2. At one point, there was a similar joke on the whiteboard on my door.
I’m still not sure what Penny was trying to accomplish in the FTP comic. I don’t think that it’s possible to hit someone in the face over the phone, unless Egoraptor physics apply (see the ending of Metal Gear Awesome 2).
Also, I agree that “Don’t Panic” is a pretty good fortune.
lim x->EIT (e^x + C) = 0

‘In Bed’ works with everything.
#3: Oh Rocko’s Modern Life, how I do miss thee…
Heh at #2.
The bannister one is awesome, but I prefer the one I got a couple weeks ago.

I like adding “in bed” to the first one. Seriously, it’d be awesome to ride a bed down a banister. 😀
Well, until it inevitably flips off, and then you have a bed landing on top of you. Not quite so awesome then…
Best real fortune I’ve ever seen: “That wasn’t chicken”

everyone knows that the integral of e to the x is the function of u to the n.
