It’s a mashup system pulling heavily from Exalted, White Wolf and D&D, with some Warhammer and Mass Effect thrown in for good measure. I recommend getting your hands on the PDFs (the base book and the supplement, For A Few Subtitles More). It’s a hilarious read if you’ve ever played a tabletop RPG (more hilarious if you’ve played several systems) and I absolutely cannot wait to play my character, pictured above.

Yes, that’s a functional axe. Yes, it’s suspended in midair without a strap. Yes, it has Rock Band keys. Yes, it’s a rare artifact. It also functions as an MP3 player and as a piece of my Atlantean past life. This ought to be enjoyable.

We went to Muddaddy Flats on Friday. If you’re in the Troy area and haven’t been, I recommend it. It’s across the street from Aquilonia, the comic book shop, and it’s a delicious quesadilla place. The owners are fantastic and talked with us about Doctor Who while we got our food. Seriously go there. The food’s great and they’re really nice!

I got to help playtest Channel A with Foam Brain Games a while back, so I knew I absolutely had to support this game. If you’re into improvisation, anime metahumor, and/or Apples to Apples-esque party games, this is for you. It will give you lots and lots of fun and is totally worth every penny.

Each round has a producer that draws five Premise Cards and chooses two. These could be things like Bloodsport, Schoolgirls, The Colorful World of Magic, or Lovecraftian Horror. Then everyone takes their hand of ten Title Cards, chooses up to four of them, and creates their title. Title Cards have common pieces of anime title on them, like Magical Girl, Lancer, Ninja, Honey, -tan, -chan, X, Z, R, V, 120% … the list goes on. Then you go around the circle pitching the anime series with that title, based on the premises chosen. Everyone votes on the winner. Hilarity ensues.

Short version: Go play Channel A.
